What to know
The current compressor uses JPEG encoding at a fixed quality setting and scales down images wider than 1,200 pixels. It does not offer a target file size or a quality slider.
JPEG is a lossy format and does not preserve transparency. Compression results depend on the source image; a smaller file or identical visual quality is not guaranteed.
File handling: Image compression runs in your browser using the Canvas API. The selected image is not sent to a remote media-processing service by this tool.
